My story

I’m sitting in the counsellor’s chair today, but I haven’t always been.

In fact, I began where you are now – by staring at a stranger’s smile beaming out of my laptop and wondering, “can this person help me?”

I decided to try, filled in the contact form and never regretted it.

Counselling has allowed me space to take a breath, away from the inevitable pain and chaos of life, and reconnect with myself. Through it, I have learnt to form healthier relationships, create personal boundaries and grew more accepting of who I am. Sometimes it could be tough, but it was always, always worth it. Today I am passionate about the power of counselling and the value it can bring to everyone’s lives.

Counselling is something I am naturally drawn to, and I studied psychology at university as the first step in understanding what makes us tick and why the human mind behaves the way it does. In truth, becoming a counsellor was harder than gaining my degree – as it requires both experience, which takes time, but also self-discovery, which takes courage.

With me, you can speak freely and openly. Most of my adult life has been spent working in the charitable and public sector, in roles supporting vulnerable adults, young people and families. As you might imagine, this has given me a deep understanding of and empathy for the challenges and difficulties of people I meet – and the many they often try to hide. As your counsellor, I am here to use my experiences and training to support you in making sense of what is happening in your life.

Outside of work, I love the simple things – reading, walking in the woods (and kicking the autumn leaves!), coffee and doughnuts. I’m more of a dog person than a cat person, prefer cold winter days to hot summer ones and, despite a love of most music, I can never remember any lyrics!

I love my work and it would be my honour and privilege to be your counsellor. I always strive to create a warm, friendly and non-judgemental space for you; a place of safety where you can begin to untangle difficult or painful thoughts, feelings and experiences. We move at your pace, exploring in the way that feels best for you.

Its your journey, but I hope to offer you the emotional support that helps you to find your way forward.
